CCW Partners with The Bus Coalition and TransIT at the Congressional Bus Caucus Event

RIVERSIDE, CA – Today, Complete Coach Works (CCW) announced it will showcase a fully electric bus, built for TransIT Services of Frederick County, on Capitol Hill in honor of the Bus Coalition’s event – “This is Not Your Parents Bus”.

In response to the industry’s increased emphasis on sustainability, CCW has developed a cost-effective and viable alternative to fossil fuel through its ZEPS (Zero Emissions Propulsion System) technology. ZEPS is a remanufactured transit bus containing an all-electric drivetrain system. ZEPS buses are rebuilt to include lightweight flooring, seats, and windows. Each unit also includes energy-efficient heating and cooling systems. The improvements offer a significantly longer operating range while maintaining battery life. ZEPS provides enhanced passenger comfort, proven reliability, and increased safety. Currently, there are more than 50 ZEPS buses deployed in service across the nation with over 3 million revenue miles. These deployments have been proven to perform successfully in all types of weather conditions.

On Wednesday, July 17th, CCW will partner with the Bus Coalition and TransIT to display a ZEPS bus at the Congressional Bus Caucus event. Members of Congress, FTA Officials, Union Representatives and other transit stakeholders are invited to attend and participate. “We are excited to show the Caucus the innovative technology currently being implemented by forward-thinking agencies like TransIT,” said Brad Carson, Director of Sales and Marketing. In 2016, TransIT purchased five (5) of CCW’s ZEPS buses to expand the depth and impact of its environmentally friendly fleet. “We look forward to the exhibition and thank TransIT for its contributions toward making it a success,” Carson said.

Complete Coach Works Becomes the First to Offer Retrofits for Wheelchair Charging Stations

Complete Coach Works Becomes the First to Offer Retrofits for Wheelchair Charging Stations

RIVERSIDE, CA – Complete Coach Works (CCW), a leading innovator in heavy-duty electric transportation, announced today it will offer retrofits to allow ADA passengers to charge their wheelchairs at each tie down location in the bus.

CCW is committed to serving the transportation industry with innovative advanced technologies. From the introduction of the Zero Emission Propulsion System (ZEPS) all-electric transit bus, first produced in 2012, to its newly developed HVAC system which has successfully proven to perform in the harshest environments, CCW recognizes the unique needs of its customers.

This upgrade will be available to all types of buses. It includes an installation of plug outlets at each wheelchair tie down station allowing riders to plug in their cords and charge while riding the bus. The key advantage to the charging station is to provide ADA riders with better accessibility and offering them a bit more power to reach their destination.

“We are relentless in pursuing innovative options for the growth of our customers. This unique retrofit will allow agencies to offer riders who use wheelchairs or scooters an opportunity to charge en route,” said Brad Carson, Director of Sales and Marketing at CCW.

Wheelchair charging stations will give riders the assurance needed to navigate the city freely. In addition, the charging stations will enhance wheelchair reliability and drive range allowing users to go a further distance. This retrofit will pave the road for other agencies to notice the benefits of adding wheelchair charging stations to their buses.

“We are excited to offer our customers another option to increase ridership. ADA bus travelers will now have a sense of security and confidence to be independent in their communities,” states Brad.

Complete Coach Works Announces Award to Provide a Refurbished Gillig Bus for Lane Transit District

Complete Coach Works Announces Award to Provide a Refurbished Gillig Bus for Lane Transit District

RIVERSIDE, CA – Complete Coach Works (CCW) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $275,000.00 contract to provide a refurbished 40-foot Gillig transit bus for Lane Transit District (Lane Transit).

“Operating a refurbish bus reflects the district’s commitment to sustainability and to responsibly steward the tax dollars it receives from the community,” said Aurora Jackson, Lane Transit’s General Manager. “We look forward to a CCW refurbished 40-foot Gillig safely and comfortably transporting riders commuting aboard the LTD sponsored Diamond Express to and from Oakridge, as well as the rest of the metro area.”

By purchasing a remanufactured bus, Lane Transit will receive a fully renovated bus for about half the cost of a new bus. Depending on its condition, a transit bus can cost $275,000.00 to refurbish compared to approximately over $500,000.00 for a brand-new bus. A complete restoration is not only cost-effective, but a retrofit bus takes a fraction of the time to deliver in months not years. Refurbished buses are easier to process as parts and staff are immediately available.

The bus will be equipped with a Cummins ISL Recon engine and rebuilt Allison B400R transmission. CCW is performing a multitude of specialized services to the bus, such as an upgrade to the bus cooling system, with the installation of a new all-electric cooling package. Other services CCW is providing includes replacing of suspension components, replacing of all wear items, installing new floors, rebuilding windows, and updating all original lighting to a modern LED system.

The refurbished Gillig transit bus will be a welcome reliable addition to Lane Transit’s fleet. Choosing a refurbished bus is a highly economical choice for managing fleet age as it relates to ridership growth. “It is a privilege working with Lane Transit. We are confident that they will be very proud of their new refurbished bus,” stated Regional Manager of CCW, Jim Paul.

Complete Coach Works Develops its Largest Electric Bus Battery Capacity

Complete Coach Works Develops its Largest Electric Bus Battery Capacity

RIVERSIDE, CA – Complete Coach Works (CCW), a leading innovator in heavy-duty electric transportation, announced today that they now offer an optional 466 kWh onboard energy storage system.

CCW increased its Zero Emission Propulsion System (ZEPS) battery pack in order to increase power and range. Currently, there are more than 50 ZEPS buses deployed in service across the nation with over 3 million revenue miles. These deployments have been proven to perform successfully in all types of weather conditions.

IndyGo and Indy Airport operate 30 ZEPS buses for its day-to-day operations. The City of McAllen Transit Department utilizes two ZEPS buses to operate out of the city’s International Transit Terminal where passengers can connect for several international, national, regional and intercity destinations.

Brad Carson, CCW’s Director of Sales and Marketing, says, “the increase in energy capacity is exciting for this technology. We were able to keep the battery pack light which improves vehicle reliability and efficiency. Our company is committed to providing the transit industry with the most advanced technology and this upgrade will give agencies the extended range they need on a single charge.”

Using advanced lithium ion batteries and liquid cooled all-electric drive systems, the unmatched performance of ZEPS delivers a significantly longer operating range while maintaining battery life. Other features include a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that provides maximum torque at the start and a smooth acceleration profile.

The ZEPS saga started as an option to provide customers a clean, cost-effective, and viable alternative to fossil fuel. Working with its sister company Transit Sales International, CCW developed its own system by taking an existing low floor transit bus and rebuilt it as a battery electric bus. The resulting ZEPS bus offers economical options to bus operators looking to start an electric bus operation. Operators can opt to purchase newly refurbished buses from CCW’s inventory or have their existing fleet converted to all-electric.

Electric vehicles are revolutionizing the transportation industry. CCW hopes to extend the revolution in the transit fleet market by offering a higher capacity 466 kWh energy storage system. ZEPS maintains its status as the industry’s lightest electric battery system that can extend driving range and reduce environmental impacts.

CCW’s commitment to sustainability has enabled it to assist numerous transit agencies in their pursuit of preserving the planet for future generations. CCW looks forward to helping more agencies go all-electric to save money, save fuel, and save the world!
